DIY: How To Build Your Own Laundry Hamper


If you are having a problem where to hide your laundry, then this hamper DIY is here to help you out. We do not want everyone to see our black clothes either in the bathroom in an unoccupied place or someplace else. In addition, it has a number of pockets on it, so it’s good to have things organized before washing.

What You Need
Hamper Frame:

2″x10″x8′ Board
2 – 1″x4″x8′ Furring Strips
1″ dia. dowel (at least 32″ long)
3 – 3/8″ dia. dowels (hardwood for strength) (at least 32″ long)
2 – 3″ Strap Hinges
2 – 3″ Tee Hinges
2 – 2″ Hooks & Eyes
20 – 2″ Wood Screws
16 – 1-1/2″ Wood Screws
36 – 3/8″ Wood Plugs
Masking Tape
Wood Glue
Wood Finish of Choice

Fabric Bins:

6’x9′ Canvas Drop Cloth
1/2 yd Medium-Heavy Weight Fusible Interfacing (at least 45″ wide) – optional
Matching Thread


What It Cost

And yes, like you can see it’s a quite difficult project. And because of that, it’s not the cheapest one, but the final result will amaze you. You can make this nice laundry hamper around 70 – 90 dollars.
